From 6 to 9 March 2027, the Lifesavers National Conference on Roadway Safety convenes at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. It is a long-running fixture of U.S. road-safety practice, convened alongside the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Governors Highway Safety Association, covering impaired and distracted driving, occupant protection, vulnerable road users and enforcement — practitioners, government and advocacy in the same rooms, over several days.
Why Beyond the Wheels 2.0 looked to it
When Clarke’s Productions Inc. shaped the format for Beyond the Wheels 2.0, it was not starting from nothing. A small number of established road-safety gatherings informed how the Summit's two days are built: sessions organised by track rather than by speaker, government and industry seated together rather than addressed separately, and a closing commitment rather than a closing reception. Lifesavers was one of those reference points — not copied, but studied, for a format that has run successfully for decades.
Lifesavers closes on 9 March 2027 in San Antonio. Beyond the Wheels 2.0 opens that same day in Georgetown. Neither event planned around the other; the two simply land, for anyone watching the road-safety calendar that week, on the same date.
What Beyond the Wheels 2.0 does with it
Beyond the Wheels 2.0 is not a Guyanese edition of Lifesavers, and it makes no claim to be. It is a national Summit, built for Guyana's own roads, fleets and regulatory questions, closing with a National Road Safety Declaration signed by the institutions in the room — a Guyanese answer to a question the format it studied has been answering in the United States for years.
